Today I was asked to issue a certificate of completion to two students who so far have missed two out of four sessions of a mini-course I'm teaching.
I intend to resolve the issue during the final class, by having the two students demonstrate the skills and knowledge we've gone over in the course in front of their classmates who had perfect attendance.
I do not believe we are doing students any favors by letting them skate by just because they've paid the tuition. They must be held accountable. Why? Because Life will hold them accountable. And if Life doesn't do it, Death will.
